One of the essential new voices of contemporary soul
It's a big day for singer Yebba, who is currently enjoying more success than ever. Today she is releasing her eagerly awaited second album, “Jean,” and has announced a new tour that will bring her to Belgium for the very first time!
Born Abigail Elizabeth Smith in West Memphis, Arkansas, Yebba grew up listening to gospel music, singing in her father's church from an early age. This spiritual and musical upbringing still permeates her work today, where fervor is mixed with raw sincerity. She came to the attention of the general public thanks to her YouTube channel and then her remarkable appearance on Saturday Night Live alongside Chance the Rapper, quickly establishing herself as an extraordinary voice. Her collaborations with artists such as Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Mark Ronson, Drake, and A$AP Rocky demonstrate her rare ability to transcend genres, from R&B to soul to pop. Her debut album, Dawn (2021), confirmed the extent of her talent: a haunting record in which she transforms grief and fragility into deeply moving melodies. Winner of a Grammy Award for her collaboration with PJ Morton, Yebba has established herself as one of the most sensitive songwriters of her generation. Today, she unveils “Jean,” an album dedicated to her grandmother. Kicking off with the magnificent single “Yellow Eyes,” released at the end of February and produced by herself and John Rooney, this second release opens a new chapter in her career, exploring love, anger, and healing with an impressive vocal range, alternating between controlled power and assumed fragility in the service of luminous introspection.
On stage, her intensity is as captivating as the power of her writing. Each performance becomes a confession, each silence a shared breath. Discover this artist, capable of thrilling an entire audience with the sheer force of her voice and emotion, on September 5 at the AB!
This concert is a co-production between the AB and Live Nation.
