Every song Montell Fish writes reveals a little piece of his heart. His music is so steeped in soul, complexity and that magical allure that leaves you craving more that it feels deeply personal. Which is hardly surprising given that Fish, who hails from Pittsburgh, became a musician because of a broken heart. “Every time I go through a break-up, I write a good album”, he says.
 
Fish was sixteen years old when he was kicked out of home because of a budding addiction to drugs. He quickly fell into a depression and tried, unsuccessfully, to cope with the break-up with his then-girlfriend and the turmoil within his family. Eventually, he turned to music and a higher power for solace. Thank God! Because, as well as possessing a pen from which pure poetry flows, he is first and foremost an outstanding musician with a clear and forward-thinking vision.
 
He rapidly established a rich body of work with projects like As We Walk into Forever (2016), Bedroom Gospel (2017), It’s Beautiful. (2018) and Nights & Days (2019). In 2022, he broke through internationally with JAMIE, an album about love, loss and self-discovery. That same year saw the release of the EP Her Love Still Haunts Me Like a Ghost. And Fish delved deeper into his exploration of love, grief and personal growth with CHARLOTTE (2024).
 
He now also composes film music and recently launched his own clothing brand, Jamie Charlotte Marshall. With more than 4.2 billion streams to his name, Fish continues his boundless creative journey. Following on from several singles in 2025 and 2026, including Days Are Getting Shorter, Devotion and Love You Right, he is currently working on the EP Nest that is due for release this autumn and is all about self-discovery and renewal.
