Cycle, skate or dance along to the beats of DJs on wheels & enjoy a unique show by Sound of Brussels Orchestra
Street Sounds anno ‘26 features a fantastic musical line-up to fill the afternoon, with the quirky DJs of Bankra Bike Soundsystem followed by ten-piece ensemble Sound of Brussels Orchestra.
1:00-4:45 pm Bankra Bike Soundsystem
Anyone who goes to Couleur Café, has no doubt danced at least once to the irresistible mobile DJs of Bankra Bike – on their way to a stage, in the middle of the park or swinging to the exit. These ecologically powered DJs are a feast for eyes and ears.
Standing still is not an option when the very best dance music is proffered. Especially on this Car-Free Sunday, you can cycle, (roller)skate or even dance around/behind/in front of the Bankra Bikes and even do so in AB – where you can park your vehicles to peacefully enjoy the multi-talented Brussels band Sound of Brussels Orchestra.

(a co-production involving Klara Festival, Ancienne Belgique and ARTCORNERPLATFORM)
What would an orchestra look like if it were invented today in Brussels? What does Europe’s most cosmopolitan city sound like? These questions form the basis of the Sound of Brussels Orchestra (BE), a Klara Festival project in collaboration with cultural partners from across the city (including AB).
This unique orchestra consists of Brussels-based musicians from diverse backgrounds. Every year they come together to give voice to their musical traditions, practices and visions, allowing them to be heard against the backdrop of hyper-diverse Brussels. Rejecting pigeonholing, conventional expectations and hierarchy, they sound out how Brussels lives and plays today: collectively, innovatively and with a mind of its own.
Together, they create and entirely new repertoire, without relying on sheet music or a fixed organisational structure. In doing so, they are accompanied and inspired by saxophonist and composer Fabrizio Cassol and cellist Adèle Viret. In 2025, the result of this unique experiment was premiered during the Klara Festival, following a residency at De Vaartkapoen.
In 2026, the line-up was expanded from eight to ten musicians and the entire team came together at Ancienne Belgique for another residency. The result of their search for the unique sound of our capital can be experienced during the Car-Free Sunday of 2026.
The line-up is a real treat: Alejandra Borzyk (saxophone), Akram Ben Romdhane (oud), Aquiles Navarro (trumpet), Aya Suzuki (percussion), Imane Guemssy (vocals, guembri), Kaito Winse (vocals, flute, percussion), Louise van den Heuvel (bass), Mostafa Taleb (kamancheh), Simon Leleux (percussion) and Vitja Pauwels (guitar).
