New Album 'Normal Isn't it'
Puscifer, the multi-faceted collective centred around Maynard James Keenan, Mat Mitchell and Carina Round, are coming to Ancienne Belgique in Brussels on 2 November as part of their ‘Normal Isn’t Tour’. The band are celebrating the release of their first new album in over five years.
Written and recorded in Arizona, Los Angeles and on the road during the Sessanta tour, ‘Normal Isn’t’ combines dark electronica and sharp humour with the rawer, more spontaneous approach for which Puscifer is known. The album delves deeper into the band members’ post-punk and goth influences, whilst opting for a rawer, more direct and guitar-driven sound. “We’re consciously drawing on our early influences,” says Keenan. “It’s where goth and punk meet; that’s where I come from.”
Puscifer remains a unique entity within the alternative music scene: a collective that brings together music, performance and visual art into a total experience. The band has played at major festivals such as Coachella and Bonnaroo, sold out venues worldwide and collaborated with artists such as Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, Phantogram and Sir Mix-A-Lot. Their own universe of eccentric characters – from Billy D to Special Agent Dick Merkin – is also part of their inimitable identity.
