JPEGMAFIA, or Peggy as he is commonly known, was born in New York to Jamaican parents, but moved constantly from one place to another due to difficult circumstances at home.
After finishing secondary school, JPEGMAFIA joined the US Army. He was deployed to various parts of the world and eventually took part in the Iraq War. These experiences added new dimensions to his repertoire as a producer and rapper. He does everything himself: from writing and recording to producing, mixing and mastering all his music. JPEGMAFIA’s sound is dark, yet never without a touch of humour that only serves to heighten the unease. His role as villain or satirist, protector of the streets or nihilist is deliberately difficult to pin down.

Peggy makes a point of insulting his fans as much as possible, but at the same time he always makes it clear that he loves his fans. What’s more, he proves time and time again that he’s even better live than on record!
