Modular synthesist presents new album
Australian resident of Sweden and modular synthesist John Chantler just recently released his latest album ‘Tomorrow Is Too Late’ on Room 40, the label of Lawrence English. The composition came about in assignment to France’s INA GRM for their festival Présence électronique in 2018.
In this new work, Chantler broadens his musical horizons and creates his most dynamic work to date with the synths of the GRM, the one in his own 1703 studio in Stockholm, and the organ of the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. From subtle microtonal movements to passages of intense harmonic saturation, Tomorrow Is Too Late has proven to be a ‘tour de force’ that evidences Chantler’s uncompromising sonic articulations.
