Aili & Orson is a Belgian-Japanese electro-pop duo that has made a strong impression both at home and abroad in recent years. Formed within Belgium’s alternative club scene and rooted in the nuances of Japanese culture, the duo seamlessly bridges two distinct worlds. The result is a minimalist and colourful universe where language barriers dissolve into pure, infectious energy. Now, the duo is preparing for their next chapter with a second album scheduled for release in spring 2027.
After a chance meeting in 2019, their musical chemistry led to a playful and spontaneous approach to songwriting, blending electronic beats, samples and Aili’s distinctive Japanese vocals. Their debut EP, Dansu (2021), spent eight weeks at #1 on Radio 1’s VOX chart, earned them a nomination for Studio Brussel’s De Nieuwe Lichting, and caught the attention of Tokyo-based label TOKA, which released a special Japanese edition of the EP.
In 2024, they released their debut album, Nandakke?, via Eskimo Recordings. The record combines surreal electro-pop with personal stories inspired by Japanese culture. It propelled them onto the international stage, debuting at #1 on KCRW’s Top 30 Album Chart in the US, receiving daily rotation on KEXP, BBC Radio 6 Music and Nova France, and landing in major playlists such as Metropolis and Pollen, reaching millions of followers.
Alongside their own sold-out headline shows across Europe and Japan, they joined L’Impératrice on tour as support act in late 2024, performing in iconic venues such as L’Olympia in Paris, Melkweg in Amsterdam and The Roundhouse in London.
With their trademark cross-cultural playfulness and boundless energy, the duo continues to expand their unique musical universe.
