"The composer makes plans, music laughs." (Morton Feldman)
Guy Van Nueten is a busy bee. This classically trained pianist/composer could previously be heard as performer and/or arranger on albums by dEUS, Daan, Magnus, Tim Vanhamel and also Admiral Freebee. Best known is Tom Barman and Guy Van Nueten's live double-CD (simply titled: ‘Live’) from 2003, for which Van Nueten wrote and performed the piano-arrangements. Van Nueten has also composed music for various theatre- and dance-productions and also for films. Remember his orchestrations for the Royal Flemish Philharmonic Orchestra, the musical ‘Soepkinders’ (crowned with a musical-award), music for the film ‘Eva reste au placard...’ by director Alex Stockman and also a collaboration with Les Ballets C. de la B. This fall ‘Merg’ will be released (via Bang! Music), a contemporary classic album with an entirely own universe containing references to the likes of baroque and Bach. The song titles certainly already sound superb: ‘Adagio niet in B’, ‘Agressie var. 1’ of ‘Impro De Vrucht’. Live, the roles will be swapped for a change: Van Nueten will perform IN THE HALL on this evening. The audience will be located ON THE STAGE. Ready for a concert that goes to the bone?
