Mini-festival full of frightening electro-noise and gruesome sounds!
17:30 doors - In Utero DJ's
20:00 Greg Fox (Liturgy)
Pharmakon sounds like the guttural utterances of human pain – screaming, growling, raging – that are sent through pedals, loops, microphones and synths into an alarming mix of electronica and noise. The alter-ego of young New Yorker Margaret Chardiet disorients the audience with a compelling live performance, bordering between performance art and underground music. She has already released two magnificent albums on Sacred Bones (Blanck Mass, Jenny Hval, Moon Duo, Föllakzoid, …), ‘Abandon’ and ‘Bestial Burden’, for which Pitchfork respectively rewarded her with no less than 8.0 and 8.4 (Best New Music). Her third issue ‘Contact’ will be out on March 31, first singles ‘Transmission’ and ‘No Natural Order’ grab you by the throat in the meantime. She already impressed in AB as support-act to Swans in 2014, now she arrives on her own to engulf the club with her mind-blowing show. Must see!
Greg Fox (Liturgy)
New York’s Greg Fox whose drum kit expresses the incessant energy of his hometown. According to Rolling Stone, the futuristic percussionist last year scored one of the “Best Avant Garde Albums of 2016” with his ‘Magenta Line’ and is known as “one of the most exciting drummers in any sort of music” according to The New York Times. Energetic drum parts guaranteed!
Piquet isn’t interested in radio-friendly songs: Lien Moris and her boys stand for no-nonsense psychedelic noise and contrary experimental pop, that feels both hypnotic and peculiar. Debut EP ‘Heywawisze’ and the fantastic single ‘Handwerk’ are certainly full of wonderful plays on words and pounding riffs, the club will be trashed early in the evening!
Barst lets himself go on a whole series of pedals, synthesizers, samplers, minimalistic tracks, drum computers and effects. The result: a spatial, orchestral sound that is bundled onto ‘The Western Lands’, one of the Belgian releases of 2016. A not-to-be-missed opening act to a rebellious mini-festival!
