BBC Sound of 2013 revelation or: Robyn meets The Knife
ConcertCHVRCHES is a Scottish electro-pop trio that pretty much puts up with a lot of attention. They suddenly appeared in the spotlight with their BBC-nomination in the famous ‘BBC Sound Of 2013’ chart, just like other nominees such as Haim, AlunaGeorge, Tom Odell, Palma Violets and Angel Haze.
Rightly so, too! The compelling voice of frontlady Lauren Mayberry is certainly a serious asset. Their latest EP ‘Recover’ already had us salivating. We'll have to wait a little for their full debut. Their visit to Eurosonic was certainly impressive. De Morgen on that: “CHVRCHES understands the art of making dance music that simultaneously sounds wistful and euphoric, a little like Robyn can in her best moments.” It has been noted.
Support-act for the concert below will be Thumpers from London. Their debut EP ‘Unkinder’ is soon to be released. It not only contains a noteworthy Björk cover but also went straight onto Transgressive Records which has housed/houses good folk like Foals, Flume, The Antlers and Two Door Cinema Club.
