‘Immersive noise from deepest Scandinavia ‘ – Uncut
The dark sound and feverish lyrics on ‘Dead Magic’, Anna Von Hausswolff’s fourth album, are the result of an intense search for her true self and the rediscovery of her muse, the church organ. The 31-year-old musician creates thrillingly intense songs with a spiritual undertone. They sound like symphonic poems doused in the impressive sound of an organ, completed by guitar, synth and sincere vocals.
‘Dead Magic’ was largely recorded in the Frederiks Kirke in Copenhagen. The church organ took the leading role on the album, under the watchful eye of producer Randall Dunn, who has also controlled the dials for the likes of Sunn O))).
