65days plays their 10 year old debut in its entirety.
65days - 65dos or 65, as you like – have something to celebrate. Namely, that their debut ‘The Fall of Math’ will be 10 years old in ’14. For the occasion, this quartet from Sheffield will play their piece of art in its entirety in a select number of cities. Brussels is gladly amongst them – aside Berlin, Utrecht and Paris. With good reason, as the band was first programmed to appeared here in ’06 with kindred spirits like Mogwai and Wolf Eyes. In ’07 they did the same in the company of New York's Liars and in ’10 they were actually the headliner of a fine bill including Fuck Buttons.
The programme for this evening? During the first part of their set, 65days will play their debut in its entirety and afterwards they will continue to pluck songs from their now extensive oeuvre. You can expect a series of musical extras, before and after the show. These will be announced at a later date.
For those who, aside from the unique 65days sound, are still looking for points of reference – music blog Drowned in Sound sums it all up for you: Kraftwerk, Boards Of Canada, Explosions In The Sky, Aphex Twin and Mogwai. Or even more succinctly: “Mogwai-rivalling post-rock stargazing augmented by clicks and bleeps straight out of Squarepusher's laptop.”
Opening act will be Thought Forms, from Bristol. They are described as a cross between Earth and My Bloody Valentine, and they reside on the Invada label of city-mate and Portishead member Geoff Barrow. Their latest album is a split-EP with Esben and the Witch.
