Maastricht quartet presents fourth album ‘Yatta!’
What began as an experimental jam session in a small Limburg village, has since grown into a globally loved live act. YĪN YĪN is known for exploring obscure worldly sounds and easily getting any audience moving. They take this impulse to the next level with their fourth album Yatta!.
Expect everything from a soundtrack for a 1960s Japanese soul-funk-spy film to pulsating disco soundtracks that could easily have come straight from a Thai spaghetti western. For those not yet familiar with their sound: “Their signature sound fuses off-kilter folk-psych funk with disco soul, creating music that feels both nostalgically familiar and excitingly fresh. They describe their own music as the no-man’s land between Khruangbin and Kraftwerk”, write The New LoFi about their previous album.
Yatta! expands this palette further with influences from Italo-disco: spacey, psychedelic disco with endless groove and trippy backward guitar effects. From explosive dancefloor-fillers to more laid-back, cinematic soundscapes, Yatta! is the sound of four musicians exploring the world through music and just really enjoying themselves while doing so. Best of all? You can experience it live at AB.
