Good rappers must firstly – obviously – be able to rap well. But what is often forgotten: unique rappers must moreover possess a good voice, with character. Just think Q-Tip, Guru from Gangstarr or also this dOSEONE, recognizable by his inimitable nasal raps. dOSEONE is certainly not unfamiliar to AB, he's stood here previously under diverse monikers such as cLOUDDEAD, 13 & God (impressive collaborative project with The Notwist), Subtle and also Themselves. The latter is the collaborative project of dOSEONE (or rather Adam Drucker) and Jel and is closely connected to the avant hop label Anticon. Their credo: distorted beats with inimitable raps. Themselves will release no less than two albums this year. 'theFREEhoudini' will be a mix-tape with a host of invited rapper friends (think: Buck 65, Alias, Busdriver, Aesop Rock,...) to be spread for free via the worldwide web ... 'Crowns Down', will be this duo's fourth official album and it is planned for the fall. Finally, a fine attempt to describe their live set: "As Jel pounds and thumbs drums and sound from his MPC, Dose puts down some 5,000 words per set in a slew of styles, voices, and shades of honest." Opener will be De Predikanten. Their debut 'Wablief?' will be released in April. On www.vi.be (or rather: the Flemish music world online, a community of bands, DJ's, fans and key players from the sector) we recently read: "De Predikanten = rap in the dialect of Aalter. You laugh?
