Intense percussion and feedback in a sensory sound experience
Regan Bowering is a London-based percussionist, improviser, and sound artist. In her solo work, she explores the intersections between drums and percussion, everyday objects, amplifiers, speakers, and feedback. Her music operates in the space between intensity and subtlety: from powerful, resonant masses of sound to refined, almost whispering percussive textures.
Her debut album Solos for _ _ _ _ Spaces (2023, Bezirk Tapes) was described by The Quietus as “a play of contrasts, in which exuberant expression alternates with restrained phrases, and roaring feedback is tempered by delicate percussive gestures, driven by a desire for dramatic tension rather than mere dissonance.”
In January 2026, her first full-length LP A Technology of Feeling was released on the label Infant Tree, further deepening her exploration of sound and physicality. In addition to her solo work, Bowering is part of a trio with Li Song and Conal Blake. Together they have released, among others, 2 Movements (2024, Feedback Moves) and Music for Snare Drums and Portable Speakers (2023, Infant Tree), works that sharpen their shared fascination with rhythm, space, and sound architecture.
Bowering is currently pursuing a practice-based PhD at Goldsmiths, University of London, where she continues to develop her artistic research. With her uncompromising, physical yet nuanced approach to sound, Regan Bowering effortlessly navigates between improvisation, experimental music, and sound art.
