With Punk 50, AB celebrates fifty years of chaos, freedom and unadulterated expression. We honour the rich past, the vibrant present and the future of punk with exhibitions, films, talks, a merchandise market and a killer line-up of international icons, Belgian legends and the new generation of punk musicians. This screening is curated by Stadskanker.
Repo Man, directed by Alex Cox, came out of nowhere in 1984. The film has no big stars, takes risks, is funny and works. A satire on Reagan-era America, all set against a backdrop of looming nuclear threat. The film was an unexpected success and has become a true cult classic over the years. Repo Man has a soundtrack packed with punk, culminating in the main theme by Iggy Pop. Repo Man is many things: a film about an alien invasion, a punk rock musical, a parody of consumer society. One thing it certainly isn’t: boring!
