Nusantara Beat presents its debut album where traditional Indonesian sounds meet danceable psychedelic rock
The Swiss label Bongo Joe has always had a special place in our musical hearts. Think of the performances at AB by acts such as Altın Gün, Baby Berserk, Chouk Bwa, Meridian Brothers, Meril Wubslin, Pixvae, and Société Étrange.
In spring 2025, we celebrated their 10th anniversary with a two-day event filled with great artists like Lalalar (a Gaye Su Akyol offshoot), as well as Cyril Cyril and The Mauskovic Dance Band. At Feeërieën, we had already hosted Nyati Mayi & Astral Synth Transmitters and Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek.
Now, we’re adding Nusantara Beat (NL) to that list. With just three singles to their name, they’ve already been embraced by prestigious festivals such as Lowlands, Dekmantel, Le Guess Who?, Into The Great Wide Open, and of course, our own outdoor festival Feeërieën.
3voor12: “Nusantara Beat explores their Indonesian roots by reinterpreting traditional 20th-century Balinese songs with their own unique twist. They take traditional Indonesian sounds and wrap them in an irresistibly danceable, psychedelic rock sound.”
Nusantara Beat will be presenting their debut album for the very first time this evening.
