Raw noise-punk with a message
Bristol’s rawest noise collective KNIVES released a razor-sharp debut with in the form of GLITTER, one instantly made a name for itself. Released in May via Marshall Records, the album was rightly described by The Wire as “very necessary”. Think: an explosive mix of hardcore, post-punk and jazz, with chaos that comes together surprisingly tightly.
KNIVES was formed in 2022 by vocalist Jay Schottlander and drummer Erin Cook. It developed into a six-member live sensation that effortlessly combines inclusivity, energy and engagement. GLITTER was recorded in the Welsh Valleys with producer Dominic Bailey-Clay and sounds like an all-consuming wall of sound - whimsical, politically charged and irresistibly danceable. KNIVES is more than music: they are building a place where everyone can feel welcome in the alternative scene. And you can feel that in their lyrics, shows and energy.
This concert is a collaboration with Flood Floorshows, which has been putting on DIY shows, running a vinyl label and distro since 2011. Like no other, they have their finger on the pulse when it comes to subgenres within the punk, emo and hardcore scenes. They promote events for national and international artists with a personal approach, one always based around three basic values: passion, independence and amplification.
