The White Stripes meets The Muppets meets Anderson .Paak
This event is our first collaboration with Kunstendag voor Kinderen, one taking the form of a special KETCLUB (child-sized adult concerts) with two excellent young bands who each play for 30 minutes at a volume of 90dB to protect young ears.
Accompanying adults can buy a ticket to KETCLUB and take up to 2 children with them for free. Unaccompanied minors aged 12-18 can also attend. They will need a paid ticket to access the show.
Kipgeweer
We start off this Sunday afternoon concert with Kipgeweer, a band that went viral for a while with their debut single Little Monkey. Kipgeweer is primarily a unique Antwerp phenomenon, created in 2020 in the living room of the Deweze family, to fill in the Corona craziness with (own) music.
The band’s leader is the now 12-year-old(!) singer, songwriter and guitarist Neo Deweze, son of the drummer Pascal Deweze ((un)known from Metal Molly, Sukilove & Broken Glass Heroes) and the trio is completed by bassist Pieter Van Buyten (from Flip Kowlier, amongst others).
In 2024, they released their debut album Chicken in Memphis, full of rambunctious and captivating rock’n’roll, sung and written by Neo himself. Kipgeweer = The White Stripes meets The Muppets.
Madd9
Madd9 (a.k.a. Quintin Beurskens, born in Bilzen in 2003) is without a doubt one of the most striking voices of the recent hip-hop generation. Together with his talented producer Preyas, he creates a compelling mix of hip-hop, funk and neo-soul. Preyas' mastery of analogue synths and the characteristic Detroit-style hip-hop drums forms a perfect complement to Madd9’s catchy hooks and layered lyrics.
With a keen feel for musical combinations, Madd9 manages to create a unique new sound that transcends the boundaries of the genre. He was soon picked up by leading label Beatville, where Coely and Fahad Seriki (known as DVTCH NORRIS) also hang out. Since then, he has been dropping singles and Eps non-stop. A unique opportunity to experience this exceptionally talented young artist at AB Club.
A double bill to savour!
