Iconic Belgian indie band makes a comeback with a new album
Hollywood Porn Stars is a Belgian indie rock band formed in 2002 in Liège. They gained attention by winning the Circuit contest Just three months after forming and soon signed with the frenc label Naïve, securing international distribution. Their music blends raw energy, sharp guitar riffs, and melancholic melodies, drawing inspiration from bands like Sonic Youth, Pixies, and Nirvana.
Although the band was initially active for only six years, they had a meteoric career, playing over 300 concerts and releasing two albums and three EPs. Some of their "classics tracks" like Actarus received heavy rotation on European radios and MTV, while tracks like Starwest or Fugitive are still frequently used for television soundtracks and promos. After this intense period, the members pursued parallel projects, including Piano Club, My Little Cheap Dictaphone and active involvement in the indie label JauneOrange
They performed many times at Belgium’s biggest venues and festivals, including Ancienne Belgique, Les Ardentes, Pukkelpop, and Dour Festival, and internationally at Eurosonic, Great Escape, Haldern Pop, Paleo, Les Vieilles Charrues, Solidays, and notably sharing the stage with Primal Scream at London’s legendary Fortress, as well as legends like Iggy Pop, Patti Smith, Sonic Youth, and more
Their live performances earned them an Octave de la Musique for Best Live Band.
The band briefly returned in 2016 with the release of the Signs EP, produced with Reinhard from Das Pop and a small accompanying mini-tour. Following this, the band went on a 15-year hiatus before returning in 2025 for the 20th anniversary of Year of the Tiger, touring major summer festivals in Wallonia and selling out venues like Le Delta in Namur and Rockerill in Charleroi. They are now preparing a new album, with a new single set for release on April 17, alongside club dates in Belgium, France, and Switzerland this November.
Hollywood Porn Stars remain a vital force in the Belgian indie scene, celebrated for their mix of energetic rock and introspective melodies.
