Hans Teeuwen zingt. Belgian PREMIERE of a phenomenon! Mister Teeuwen is known as a dapper cabaret performer, but that stage comedian would now seem to be away on vacation. More Teeuwen news however on the site www.hansteeuwen.tv. Also about this new programme: 'Sings songs that have been sung much earlier, more often and even better in the past... Music was my first love and it will be my last, music of the future and music of the past...' Hmmm, still a little humour after all?
That this is rightly his great artistic love is apparent from the kilos of rave reviews, certainly following his visit to the North Sea Jazz Festival (immediately amongst the greats and legends). Hans Teeuwen devotes himself here to that 'Great American Songbook' with every now and then a song of his own. He clearly doesn't do this like the next best crooner, but with 'the sharpness of SINATRA and the explosiveness of NICK CAVE'!
The singer Hans Teeuwen will be accompanied by a band composed of fantastic musicians. On guitar JESSE VAN RULLER: already winner of the Thelonious Monk Competition in Washington in 1995, has meanwhile released 10 of his own CDs, from New York to Japan. On alto sax BENJAMIN HERMAN: in 2006 winner of the VPRO/Boy Edgar prize, and owner of a complete trophy cabinet with his New Cool Collective. On piano RUBEN HEIN: this year completed the Masters-training in jazz-piano at the Amsterdam Conservatorium and is a member of the Amsterdam Jazz Orchestra. On bass KASPER KALF: plays (inter)nationally with diverse ensembles, such as Pete Philly & Perquisite, Monsieur Dubois and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. And on drums JOOST KROON: graduated from the Rotterdam Conservatorium five years ago with a 10 Cum Laude and is a permanent member of the New Cool Collective.
Enough laughs, play!
