1 + 1 = 3. The ultimate proof? The Colorist Orchestra + Emiliana Torrini!
Thereâs something magical about a good collaboration. Especially when two artists are able to âmerge into oneâ, THE perfect symbiosis. The Colorist Orchestra is not only living proof of that (ever since their formation in 2013), theyâve actually become specialists in doing so. Pivotal character in The Colorist Aarich Jespers and Kobe Proesmans have done this before, with the work of Gabriel Rios, Lisa Hannigan and most recently with Howe Gelb (Giant Sand).
But itâs the bloodline with Icelandic singer/songwriter EmilĂana Torrini that resulted in their international breakthrough. Their joint musical egg will be laid in 2023: âRacing the Stormâ â no adaptions of previous Torrini songs, rather brand new ones, entirely original material. An international class act pur sang? Weâll gladly bow to that.

Fun fact
The Colorist used to be simply called Obatala and has been welcomed to AB since 2004. The musical guests (in the AB Club!) were no slouches back then either: Tony Allen (!) or Anga Diaz (Buena Vista Social Club). The Colorist himself has already performed in AB with other great guests like Lisa Hannigan, Gabriel Rios, Howe Gelb and, now once more, EmilĂana Torrini.
