Indeed: Christian Scott, that fine young talent from New Orleans who already shone here in the ABClub in early 2008. This is trumpet with attitude, but also with funky craftsmanship and a rich palette of sounds. Scott's skills are also eagerly utilized by the likes of Mos Def, X-Clan or Jill Scott. You could catch Christian Scott just recently during Gent, and North Sea, Jazz. But we'd just like to repeat what the New York Times had to say: 'Suddenly there are a lot of jazz-rock bands around, and Mr. Scott’s might be the Coldplay of them: a comfortable romance comes along with the echo, volume and drama.' Tight and yet heart-warming jazz? It is possible! Or, as he says himself: 'I try, we try'. Just try.
