Welsh songwriter with Nico allures increasingly impresses.
“8/10” (NME)
“She has a brilliant future.” Alsook: “*****” (The Guardian)
“Haar stem is op plaat van een spookachtige schoonheid.” (De Morgen)
Welsh singer Cate Le Bon, who moved from England to the west coast of America, has had us hooked for weeks already with her hypnotic single ‘Are You With Me Now’. The recipe? A voice that reminds one of the late Nico (Velvet Underground) on a bed of somewhat rickety sixties sound.
Her latest album ‘Mug Museum’ is now her third and most praised to date. De Standaard on it: “Cat Le Bon groeit met elk album”. The assistance of Perfume Genius, White Fence drummer Nick Murray, and folks from the entourage of Joanna Newsom make the album only more exciting.
Opener will be The Antler King, the band behind the duo/couple Esther Lybeert and Maarten Flamand, who last year released their second studio album ‘Patterns’. Kwadratuur on that: “The Antler King is about emotionally loaded folk-pop that has long gotten over that campfire stage. One time it's with rock-solid melodies, another time it's an almost pathetic fragility. The Antler King's biggest strength is remaining themselves in strong songs.”
