Fireman, CD performance (over an hour, man ;>)
Fireman, what are you doing now?
In the summer of 2021, Geert Verdickt - the frontman of Buurman, known for 'London Stansted', 'Leaves Of Gold' and 'Every End Is A New Beginning' - lit a summer fire ten times and became 'Vuurman'. He invited 'ordinary' people with an unusual story, and while gazing into the fire let tongues loose.
There was the man who broke his back but swam from England to France. The 90-year-old with Jewish roots, who tells in great detail how as an 11-year-old boy he jumped off the deportation train to Auschwitz in 1943. The signaller who made a mistake in the denouement of the bicycle race. The professor who took Geert to 'his' particle accelerator in CERN, Switzerland, and so on.
Ten big stories, small stories, special stories.
Gripping, surprising, deeply human.
Verdickt then worked with his Buurmannen on ten new songs and podcasts, based on the fire conversations. This spring 'Land In Zicht' will appear, a delicious spring hit as a precursor to 'Vuurman', the album we can expect on May 20.
BUURMAN is Geert Verdickt and his neighbors Stijn Gevaert and Koen Renders. 'Vuurman' is their sixth full album.
On May 25, 2022, they will throw a party with horns and full band to celebrate the release of the new album 'Vuurman'.
