Intimate club concert, back to where it all began
We can no longer imagine the Dutch-language musical landscape without Antwerp band Bazart. After their hit-filled latest album Onderweg, things were quiet for a while around Mathieu Terryn, Simon Nuyten and Oliver Symons, although they did release a few successful singles – such as Geef Mij Alles – on their own label ECHO in the meantime.
The three also took the time to pursue personal side-quests: Mathieu moved to Amsterdam, Oliver headed to L.A. to work on his own project, and Simon dove into the studio as producer for the likes of ECHO-signed artists DAUW and Ricky Bekstok.
When the band members met up again, the desire and inspiration to start on a new album grew. The first single that they are now releasing, Begin Opnieuw, shows Bazart at its most honest: a song about letting go, starting over and carrying on. But above all, it’s about the power that lies within that process.
The synth-heavy track was launched during their secret show at Pukkelpop, where the powerful live version immediately became a Studio Brussel Hotshot. As their alias EXIT already indicated at Pukkelpop: it marks the end of a chapter, but proves that there is indeed gold to be seen around the sun after it rains.
