New album 'Allbarone'
2025 will also see the return of a much-loved figure on the British scene, London dandy Baxter Dury. A singular artist, Baxter Dury has announced not only a new album scheduled for release in September, but also a new tour that will take him all over Europe, landing in Brussels on November 25 for a must-see concert at the Ancienne Belgique!
It was after the death of his father, Ian Dury (founder of the legendary band The Blockheads), that Baxter began writing his own material. 25 years later, and with nine albums under his belt, the nonchalant British singer-songwriter has made a name for himself the world over, proving that he's no match for his father's talent. His elegant, quirky pop melodies, with their nostalgic accents, are carried by his bewitching voice, all in a spoken-sung style, in the manner of a British Gainsbourg. He mixes genres with talent, and doesn't hesitate to reinvent himself on each of his albums. Baxter Dury is a multi-faceted artist who remains resolutely modern. Born of an unexpected meeting with legendary producer Paul Epworth (Adele, Florence + The Machine) backstage at Glastonbury 2024, his ninth album “Allbarone”, due for release in September, features nine incisive, futuristic tracks driven by a rare creative urgency. The album's themes range from social satire to introspection, and the songwriting is in a class of its own.
