Concert‘PJ Harvey covering Loretta Lynn’ capitalized Rolling Stone earlier this year and you won’t soon find a more accurate description of Adia Victoria. Her debut ‘Beyond the Bloodhounds’ exudes as much country, afro-punk and rock as blues. Her body no doubt absorbed the country influences in Nashville – where Adia currently lives – and she picked up her blues through her love of Paramount Records. The rock-infusion then presumably comes from producer Roger Moutenot who has already supplied great work for the likes of Yo La Tengo and Sleater Kinney.
