Senegalese legend finally back with new album

Orchestra Baobab is a true institution and a cornerstone of African music. The band was formed in 1970 in Dakar as a club orchestra, inspired by the Afro-Cuban fever that swept through West-Africa. The band very soon developed a unique style in which Maninka, Wolof and Serer sounds fused with Latin rhythms and timeless elegance.

Made in Sénégal is the long-awaited second chapter of a musical journey in the form of a trilogy. After Made in Dakar (2007), it is another true love letter to Senegal’s musical roots and future. The combination of swaying rumba, Mandinka sounds, and Afro-Cuban echoes reflects the immortality of their music.

The trilogy will one day culminate in Made in Africa, which is to unite the greats of African music. High time for this mythical band to return to AB, no less than 22 years after their previous visit.
