Colombian artist Tatiana Zubieta (1985, Bogota), who lives in Brussels, is a multi-disciplinary artist who explores physical materials and their transformation through sculpture, video, photography, installation and collage.
Tatiana makes use of industrial materials (such as metal, motors or wires) as the basis for her work. The heart of her artistic practice lies in the transformation of recycled and/or found materials, as opposed to extraction and exploitation of new raw materials.
She currently works under the name 7Element and operates at the intersection of theories about quantum physics and perception. Inspired by the existence of parallel universes, she evokes elements and dynamics that only exist in planes of existence that lie beyond our daily experience.
For Bar Chaud, she came up with a concept that incorporates the city of Brussels’ rubbish bins into her installations. These rubbish bins won’t be emptied during the festival, making them temporarily unusable. 7Element gives the rubbish bins a new function.
Tatiana makes use of the artistic workplace at Globe Aroma. Through the artistic workplace, Globe Aroma supports artists by offering them a space to work and reflect, providing access to resources and a professional network in the arts sector. Globe Aroma works specifically with people who need international protection: refugees, asylum seekers, people in exile…who, due to their precarious residence status, may experience certain obstacles when entering the art world and taking part in artistic activities.
