This year, The Afghan Whigs (US) celebrate their 40th anniversary. But rather than resting on their laurels, the band returns with renewed energy.
Their new album, Soft Control, was released at the end of August, accompanied by an international tour. Led by frontman Greg Dulli, the band will present their new album at AB on Monday, 5 October. They will be joined by Ed Harcourt as special guest.
The press on Soft Control:
- ‘On their fourth album since reuniting, Greg Dulli and co. seem animated by a desire to keep learning, pushing the soul-grunge of their past into more graceful territory.’ 7.7 – Pitchfork
- ‘Four decades into their career, the undulating, distinctive, and soulful indie rock groove of The Afghan Whigs is in fine fettle on their new album, Soft Control. Greg Dulli and The Afghan Whigs have been an important and singular part of the indie rock firmament for their entire career. Soft Control is the latest example of their excellence.’ – Under The Radar
