Tricky presents his latest project
‘Skilled Mechanics seethes with low-level, lo-fi menace, its spare instrumentation creating an unsettling queasiness that will have been familiar to Tricky’s admirers since 1995’s ‘Maxinquaye’’
He was to be heard on the classic ‘Blue Lines’ (’91) by Massive Attack and his debut ‘Maxinquaye’ (’95) – a tribute to his dead mother – was a classic in its own right too. He has worked with greats like Björk & Neneh Cherry and in’12 he even did a guest performance for Beyoncé at Glastonbury.
He has released no less than 10 albums over the last 20 years, including his latest project ‘Skilled Mechanics’. The album title hails from a documentary about espionage that Tricky was triggered by. By the way, ‘Skilled Mechanics’ is viewed as a collaborative project (with the likes of long time collaborators DJ Milo, Luke Harris and also Oh Land, Chinese rapper Ivy 艾菲, and Ann Dao) and contains a number of remarkable covers of Porno For Pyros and Slipknot.
