Following Gabriel Rios, The Colorist now creates a unique collaboration with Howe Gelb (Giant Sand)
This is a Covid Safe Ticket concert! What do you need?
Far to few artists are drawn out of their comfort zone, or deliberately avoid doing so. So all due respect for Giant Sand-frontman Howe Gelb who was asked to leave his regular backing band at home and surround himself with eight-piece band The Colorist. The Colorist â pivoting around Aarich Jespers and Kobe Proesmans â still stylishly reworks the oeuvres of others with self-made instruments. To describe The Colorist as a sort of âlive-remix-upfront-backing bandâ doesnât actually sound so crazy. Surprising and yet familiar.
Â
After the ensemble previously joined forces with Emiliana Torrini (Iceland), Cibelle (Brazil), Lisa Hannigan (Ireland), Sumie Nagano (Sweden) and citizen-of-the-world Gabriel Rios, it is now the turn of Giant Sand-frontman Howe Gelb.Â
Â
Their all-embracing creation will be out this spring on American label Dangerbird (Grandaddy, Sebadoh âŠ) and will visit prestigious venues like Paradiso (Amsterdam), the OpĂ©ra National de Lyon, De Roma (Borgerhout) and our very own AB this fall.
