The Black Keys frontman launches psych-soul side-project
‘Yours, Dreamily,’ takes what Auerbach does at his best, in and out of the Keys – confessional, texturally enriched blues propelled with garage-rock force.’
(Rolling Stone)
Just recently released: ‘Yours, Dreamily,’, the excellent debut by The Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach. And what a debut it is! Auerbach surrounded himself with exceptional folk that The Independent wonderfully described as ‘An intriguing alliance’. Those fine folk are none less than Richard Swift (The Shins) and quite a few members of The Menahan Street Band that you no doubt unwittingly know from the instrumental ‘Made The Road By Walking’, as could be heard in ‘Roc Boys’ by Jay-Z. Add to that: Mariachi Flor de Toloache (who say that they’re the first all female mariachi band in NYC) for an original touch.
On ‘Yours, Dreamily,’(yup, you always write the title with two commas), the bluesy rock ’n roll of The Black Keys makes room for soul and psychedelica. Or, to say it in the words of Auerbach himself: ‘The Arcs are there for the weird, experimental things that I can’t do with The Black Keys.’
In case you were still at a loss for reasons not to miss this concert: we’ll give you three in one go!
#1: The Arcs only play 8 shows (!) in all of Europe and so that is: fairly exclusive.
#2: It’s rare that Dan Auberbach – let alone The Black Keys – still visits ‘small’ venues.
#3: The combination Dan Auerbach and mariachis: you should already be intrigued for that reason alone.
