In Tripoli, Lebanon, an unfinished dome, designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer, becomes a unique space for musical experimentation. In 1975, construction of the dome was halted by the war, leaving behind an unfinished concrete structure with exceptional acoustics. Years later, Firas El Hallak invited musicians to spend five days experimenting with the space and its sounds. Their performances come together in a musical film in which the history of Tripoli and the traces of a modernist project interrupted by violence are re-echoed through music, architecture and space.
Firas El Hallak is an audiovisual artist and curator based between Belgium and Beirut.
