Jazz meets hiphop meets seventies fusion
Concert LiveuropeThis is a Liveurope concert, the first European initiative that supports concert venues in promoting emerging musical talent from Europe.
In barely a year, the Polish band Omasta played more than a hundred concerts across Europe. Those hours spent on the road, on stage, backstage and together are reflected on *Hits Different*, the second album by this Kraków-based collective.
On *Hits Different*, Omasta builds on the sound of their debut, *Jazz Report From The Hood*, whilst at the same time breaking new ground. Jazz blends with hip-hop, beats from Detroit and Los Angeles, and the warm sounds of 1970s fusion. Yet the album sounds different from its predecessor. There’s more scope for electronic elements, the tracks sometimes take unexpected turns, and improvisation still plays a major role. Whilst the debut drew on the band members’ personal stories and emotions, *Hits Different* adopts the narrator’s perspective. The album feels like a film, with tracks that shift between happiness, excitement, tension and disorientation. The music never tells the whole story, but leaves room for your own interpretation. One thing is clear, though: this story doesn’t end with a happy ending.
Live, you can expect a catchy mix of jazz, hip-hop, grooves and improvisation. No two shows are the same, so you don’t want to miss this!
