So long, English… Meltheads are writing a new chapter and, to do so, are returning to Dutch. Not twelve versions of ‘Naïef’, but pure Meltheads. Sietse Willems, Yunas De Proost, Tim Pensaert and Simon de Geus had already built up a reputation for sizzling live performances when they broke through to the wider public in 2022 with the instant Belpop classic ‘Naïef’. Two years later, they made a splash with their debut album *Decent Sex*, a feverish dream lasting around thirty minutes: blisteringly fast, overwhelming and unadulterated.

Both at home and abroad (including BBC Radio 1, KEXP and Clash Magazine), audiences fell head over heels for their sultry mix of post-punk, noise, psych and rock ’n’ roll. Prominent slots at renowned showcase and rock festivals followed seamlessly. Shows in Belgium and the Netherlands sold out, and they toured parts of Europe as the support act for dEUS.
Meltheads live is an experience. Now they’re simply going to do it all again, but this time in Dutch. The first step towards this change of direction came earlier this year, with a cover of *En Toen Was Er Niets Meer* (by De Brassers) for Anke Blondé’s film *Dust*. The door to Dutch was open and never closed again.
“Dutch is inspiring me again,” says frontman Sietse Willems. “At some point, I just started writing like this. I was looking for a new creative direction, and this is what came out. What can I say? But don’t expect a dozen versions of ‘Naïef’ now.” He couldn’t have made a better choice

Chapter 2 is therefore not a trip down memory lane. It is both easier and braver to speak your mind in your mother tongue. And you can be sure that Meltheads has something to say. “Struggling with grief, depression, self-loathing and anger. The moral conflict of humanity. The world is on fire. What’s the point of trying to pull yourself out of depression anymore? Hatred towards world leaders. Adultery. We’re angry! Palestine, Israel. But also small glimmers of hope. And love.”
So that’s what’s in store for Meltheads’ second album, due out in the spring of 2027 and to be presented exclusively in our Main Hall. With an exceptional frontman and performer like Sietse Willems, it’s bound to be a wild party.
