Pioneering electronica producer (see: Björk, Róisin Murphy) makes controversial concept album about the life cycle of a pig.

Controversy is on Matthew Herbert’s side. All being well, the pioneering electronica producer Matthew Herbert will release ‘One Pig’ in October. That’s right: ‘all being well’. You see, there is an actual Facebook campaign aiming to suppress the release of the album and PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has also condemned the album as “making ‘entertainment’ from animal cruelty”.
The facts: October sees the release of ‘One Pig’, the final part of Herbert’s ‘One’ trilogy (the others were ‘One One’ and ‘One Club’), each part of which concerns a single theme. ‘One Pig’ – which Herbert has been working on for three years – revolves around the life cycle of a pig (from its birth to the moment this intelligent animal arrives on your plate). Herbert has used samples to create an intriguing audio trip.
The live debut of ‘One Pig’ took place in the prestigious Royal Opera House in London as part of the ‘Just Tell The Truth’ festival curated by the English film maker, Mike Figgis.
