Honest Songs, Powerful Stories
Lemon Straw is a Belgian pop/folk band led by Giani Sabia, joined by Boris Iori, Martin Moreau, and Grégory Chainis. Known for their emotional songwriting and rich melodic sound, the band creates music that speaks straight to the heart.
The band’s journey began in an unexpected place. After years working in a factory, Giani left everything behind and set off for London and New York in search of something more. It was on a platform at Penn Station in 2006 that the spark was lit — when Boris, visiting from Belgium, said: “If you ever come back home, we should start a band.” Giani already had songs in his back pocket. Lemon Straw was born.
Their debut album, See You On The Other Side (2010), recorded with Renaud Lhoest, introduced their heartfelt sound and quickly drew attention from the press and radio. It marked the start of a lasting presence on the indie scene.
In 2015, their second album, Running Home, took things further — leading to festival slots alongside artists like Roger Hodgson (Supertramp) and Étienne Daho. That era also welcomed new members: drummer Martin Moreau and pianist Xavier Bouillon, adding fresh layers to the band’s evolving sound.
A year later, Lemon Straw was nominated for Group of the Year at the Decibel Music Awards.
In 2018, Grégory Chainis joined the group on bass, finalizing the band’s current lineup.
Their third album, Puzzle (2020), featured the breakout track “Angels Never Die,” which found fans well beyond Belgian borders. Despite the pandemic, the band played over 100 shows and built a loyal, growing audience.
In 2025, Lemon Straw released their most ambitious project yet: Jump — produced by Mehdi Parisot (Charlie Winston) and mixed by Nicolas Quéré (Jean-Louis Aubert, Arctic Monkeys, Nick Cave, Feu! Chatterton). Widely praised by fans and critics, the album marked a new era and led to a string of sold-out concerts across Europe.
With a distinctive voice, honest lyrics, and soaring melodies, Lemon Straw continues to grow with each new chapter — always guided by a deep love of live music and authentic connection. Every album is a journey. Every concert, a shared experience.
