NCHTWNKL is a new party concept we have called into being together with LeFtO. On a regular basis, we will be organising club nights that combine the sharpest live-acts of the moment with noteworthy DJs.
The beat scene in L.A. consists of an enormous collective of musicians who make connections between leftfield electro and underground rap. Daedelus is one of the veterans of the hip-hop world in L.A. His leftfield versions of drum ’n’ bass and downtempo, yielded him releases on the likes of Alpha Pup, Ninja Tune and Brainfeeder.
Just like Flying Lotus and Samiyam, Teebs is a part of the legendary Brainfeeder (on which he released his first album ‘Ardour’, ten years ago). Pitchfork was instantly enthusiastic: ‘The record sounds like what would happen if you could plant hip-hop beats in the soil and plug headphones into the flora that emerged.’ Teebs turned out to be a cult hero. So it was that he appeared on stage at Low End Theory, the foremost experimental hip-hop and electro club, and made remixes for the likes of Shlohmo and Nosaj Thing. Last year, the producer released his third album. On ‘Anicca’ he enters into new collaborations, which results in a series of tracks that make time stand still.
