More robust Touareg desert-blues-rock, CD Launch.
Phew, Kel Assouf has completed their 2nd CD: ‘Tikounen’ will be out on IglooMondo Records and promises to be a more robust Touareg desert-blues-rock sound.
As you no doubt already know, frontman Anana Harouna sometimes already plays with trailblazers Tinariwen, and Kel Assouf wouldn’t say no to playing a support show for those heroes...
But there is more: Toulou Kiki as singer (and leading role in the never highly enough praised film Timbuktu by A. Sissako).
The Belgian-North West African band this time headed into the studio with Tunisian Sofyann Ben Youssef and that clearly resulted in a more adventurous sound.
But now the keywords, once again: Kel Assouf are 'the people of nostalgia' and Tikounen stands for 'astonishment, perplexity even.' This remains a story of oppression, discrimination, and rebellion, across borders, between the desert and the urban jungle. That is also where the dancefloor awaits you (in the ABClub).
