‘The son of’ finds, rocks and rolls his own country route.
Justin Townes Earle is the highly capable and credible son of Steve Earle, and his middle name refers of course to the notorious Townes Van Zandt, that singer-songwriter monument, and permanent source of inspiration (for both father and son). His 'The Good Life' and 'Midnight At The Movies' CDs have been out since 2008, and now he comes at last to the AB in the wake of last year’s 'Harlem River Blues.'
His website says: 'Woody Guthrie once said, “Any fool can make something complicated. It takes a genius to make it simple.” On Harlem River Blues, Justin chose the simple route. The record’s not a wall of sound produced to the rafters. It’s rockin’ and reelin’ at times, sweet and slow at others—and it’s great. Like good fried chicken, a well-cut suit and a handmade guitar, there’s heaven to be found in the beautifully crafted simpler things.' In simpler terms: Justin is the real deal!
