Australian resident of Sweden, artist John Chantler released a new album ‘Which Way To Leave’ earlier this year on Room40 (with Okkyung Lee on cello). After exploring the sonic possibilities of church organs in 2015 on ‘Still Light, Outside’, in his latest work, Chantler draws on the cables, sliders and dials of his modular synth. He lays a carpet of drones & dissonant sounds and explores new musical paths with it, sometimes tending toward musique concrète & electro-acoustic music.

Fans of the music of San Francisco Tape Music Center, the releases on PAN or the new wave of experimental (modular) synth-artists à la Keith Fullerton Whitman or Alessandro Cortini  should be sure to circle this date on their calendar with a big fat red pen.
