Jay Prince caught the attention of both listeners and other artists with his mixtape BeFor Our Time. He has since been releasing music for over a decade, with a remarkable patience that is defining for his success. His music often contains elements of jazz & soul and the rapper has been praised not only for his musicality but also his poetic & level-headed, introspective lyrics.

He recently released his long-awaited debut album SHINE: a major turning point in his career, full of collaborations with the likes of Yussef Dayes and Estelle. SHINE was inspired by a journey to the Democratic Republic of Congo and the urge to do something unlike his previous work.

From freestyle sessions in the schoolyard to his upcoming show at AB Club: it has been a long journey to reach this point. But, as Jay Prince recently said himself at an event: “The journey is the most rewarding part.”
