Because tradition just happens to be important: after 'Live at the Ancienne Belgique' ('05) and 'Live at the Ancienne Belgique II' ('06') the logical successor is 'Live at the Ancienne Belgique III'. In September '09, live-recordings were made in the AB of new material from the (in their own words) seven-member terror jazz-combo Franco Saint De Bakker. Initially starting out as a band that concentrated on jazz standards from the likes of Charlie Parker, Mal Waldron or Sonny Clark, more and more craziness, contrariness and also own compositions crept into their repertoire. Also their interpretations of 'No One Knows' (Queens Of The Stone Age) and 'Blue Monday' (New Order) have now become Franco-classics. Franco's line-up looks even more impressive than ever now too, with the likes of founding member Elko Blijweert (see too: Wim Vandekeybus, Tip Toe Topic, Rudy Trouvé Sextet,...), Karel De Backer (Filip Kowlier, Novastar,...) Joris Caluwaerts (ex-Zita Swoon, The Go Find) and Rudy Trouvé as regular guest.
