With the albums ‘Electric Soldiers’ (2007) and ‘Cat Fit Fury’ (2010), The Van Jets put themselves on the map as one of the most popular bands in the national rock scene. The four from Ostend could be described as a smart mix of Bowie, Iggy Pop and T. Rex, somewhere between mad melodies and bewitching beauty. On top of that, they delivered countless hits (such as “The Future” – the most-played track on Studio Brussel in 2010 and the hymn of an entire generation). Johannes Verschaeve, Michaël Verschaeve, Wolfgang Vanwymeersch and Frederik Tampere established a rock solid live reputation over the years too, with sold-out shows all over Europe and festival appearances at Rock Werchter, Pukkelpop, Dour and many more
For the 2012 release of their third album they called upon the services of Philippe Zdar (Cassius) and Jeroen De Pessemier (aka Papillon from Belgian electro-sensation The Subs). The result was a refreshing interaction between their rock ‘n’ roll philosophy and a groovy sound containing hip-hop & funk elements. In 2015 they lived up to their reputation again with the release of ‘Welcome To Strange Paradise’, which was recorded in London with Leo Abrahams (Florence + the Machine, Paolo Nutini, Oscar And The Wolf). Borne by the irresistible single “Two Tides of Ice”, this new album again opened doors to the finest summer festivals (Rock Werchter, TW Classic).
Today, The Van Jets announce their big comeback. A new longplayer will be on shelves October 27: ‘Future Primitives’. They produced the new album themselves, with the assistance of sound engineer Jeff Claeys (The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Millionaire), and it was mixed by Tchad Blake (Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys). It promises to be their most refined and personal to date. While we’re awaiting new material, and in the wake of their unanimously praised set at the most recent edition of Pukkelpop, The Van Jets confirm a happy reunion with their many fans! That will take place on Thursday 21 December in the Ancienne Belgique! Tickets are available as of Thursday 31 August at 10:00.
