First issue ‘Nothing’s Real’ filled with soulful synth-pop
19:00 doors - Dj [k]
20:00 Felix Pallas
A lot of potential, but as the headliner 40 minutes is really too short. Even if she thought to be playing in the AB Club. Some new material or a well chosen cover, could help to make the gig a really good experience. Great band, especially the bass&drums. Make them keepers, Shura!
Catchy pop songs with an 80's vibe. Shura seemed a little awkward on stage still, but overall had a really great time!
Top! Ja het was wat kort maar ik denk dat we voor die prijs niet mogen klagen..
Good concert but really too short. Shura barely played 40 minutes.
Haar optreden mocht langer duren, geweldig!

"Shura sings for that soul-searing moment when hearts are not breaking, but broken." - PITCHFORK
“Soft, vaguely 70s/80s pop filtered through 90s R&B... Shura is the real deal.” – THE FADER
Aleksandra Lilah Yakunina-Denton, but just call her Shura, deals in dreamy soulful synth-pop and caused quite a stir in the digital YouTube pond with first single ‘Touch’ in 2014 (there’s quite a bit of kissing in the clip!). After that there was a spot on the longlist of BBC’s Sound Of 2015, a much enjoyed appearance at Jools Holland’s, and a successful collaboration with Mura Masa on hit single ‘Love For That’.
Her debut ‘Nothing’s Real’ is ready and waiting at Polydor (James Blake, Years & Years, Ellie Goulding), new single ‘What’s It Gonna Be’ is too, and the calendar for the summer is looking pretty well-filled… with shows in London’s Koko and at Primavera in Barcelona to kick it all off.
So this is a big fat hat-trick for the former Manchester City Girls player!
When members of Bazart spread their wings elsewhere, then it always bears the same seal of quality. In the wake of the fantastic revelation of Warhola (sold-out AB Box, 04/11), Felix Pallas now also rightly aims for the top. The indie-electro-pop band encompassing singer-guitarist Simon Nuytten grabbed foreign attention with singles ‘RAKATA’ and ‘Curse’, when they were launched worldwide by Zane Lowe (Beats 1 – Apple Music) during his radio show, that is followed by the likes of BBC Radio 1, Pigeons&Planes and Studio Brussel. Music of the future!
