Four-member female unguided missile from Madrid
19:00 doors - DJ Te Ki La
20:00 Public Access T.V.
Agree it was not our fault someone threw that thing...and short it was, too. A bit of a disappointment, really. At least they were louder than on CD, I liked that. Could have been really nice...dommage.
A shame one of the lead singers wanted to punish the whole audience after an empty cup was thrown at her. It's not because one person throws a cup everybody else in the hall hates you. She should have focussed on all the people who didn't throw a cup. She let the one negative thing almost ruin the whole concert.

“A concentrated shot of brattish indie psych… a total breath of fresh air” (NME)
“Addictive, pure pop hooks…they know exactly what they’re doing” (Q Magazine)
“We're head over heels” (NOISEY)
Hinds – FKA Deers (hind being the female form of deer) but a band of the same name undertook legal action – is one of the most charming discoveries of 2015. Together with acts like Honeyblood, Ex Hex and Girlpool, Hinds is one of the flagbearers of a brand new draft of ‘je m’en fous’ female rock bands.
The lo-fi garage rock of the girls from Madrid sounds deliciously messy and can be best appreciated live. “We know we aren’t big musicians”, admits this four-member unguided missile, “so we do this music with what we have and that’s love”. Their charm and enthusiasm make us completely forget that ‘lack of’… and just try standing still to songs like ‘Bamboo’, ‘Between Cans’ and ‘Chili Town’ anyway. Their long awaited debut album ‘Leave Me Alone’ comes out early next year (8/01) via Mom + Pop / Lucky Number (NEWS in Belgium). Until then, we continue to shout along to “I want you to call me by my name when I am lying on your bed” (from ‘Bamboo’). An unbridled party, guaranteed!
Public Access T.V.
Streamlined indie-rock – tending toward new-wave and post-punk acts like The Strokes (for whom they have also served as support) and Franz Ferdinand – smartly recycled into fresh pop tunes and perfect, catchy refrains. That’s what you can expect from a portion of Public Access T.V.. The New Yorkers are NME favourites – a position generally not easily attained by an American band – and so we can safely classify them with our eyes closed, in our file under ‘next big thing ’. ‘Patti Peru’, the first single from their debut album that is to be released in 2016 (via Terrible Records, co-run by Chris Taylor of Grizzly Bear), is certainly one to savour.
