The darling of the indie scene returns bearing her second solo album

‘Tell Me How You Really Feel’, Courtney’s second solo album since her fantastic debut ‘Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit’, will be released on May 18.  In the punky first single ‘Nameless, Faceless’ she sings about anonymous internet trolls… as a reaction to the internet plague fo recent years. There’s a Margaret Atwood quote woven into the refrain: "Men are afraid that women will laugh at them; women are afraid that men will kill them."

The album is the successor to ‘Lotta Sea Lice’, her collaboration with Kurt Vile, about which De Morgen wrote: "Courtney Barnett en Kurt Vile, de twee grootste slackers van de indierock, bundelen hun krachten. En wat er dan gebeurt, is even voorspelbaar als vertederend: slome songs met het hoofd in de nu eens donkere, dan weer donzige wolken."

In the press "Courtney Barnett vertrekt van alledaagse observaties (‘I lay awake at four / Staring at the wall’), die nauwelijks een halve zin later (‘Counting all the cracks backwards in my best French’) alweer het startpunt blijken van een fascinerende trip door Courtney-land. Het moet geleden zijn van ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city’ dat een stel songteksten ons nog zo gepakt heeft." - **** Humo about her debut album ‘Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit’
