Indie god curates for the first time and plays his entire masterpiece ‘Bubblegum’
AB CURATED BY
AB turns 40 in September and we’re celebrating in style while the entire booking team takes a temporary break. Come again? Well, throughout the celebratory season, AB is handing the keys to the programming office over to a range of national and international curators with long-term associations with the venue.
Please note: There are combi-tickets available for this event. Each day, Mark Lanegan will play his entire album ‘Bubblegum’. The (inter)national guests that he invites will be different on each occasion.
With his 13 visits to AB, you can safely say that Mark Lanegan is a Resident Artist. Lanegan first stood on stage at AB in 1992, with his previous band Screaming Trees, and at least a handful of times under his own name. He was a conspicuous guest at the Magnus farewell shows in late 2018 and he also passed in revue with his on-the-road companions Greg Dulli & Isobell Campbell. So it was a logical choice to let Mark Lanegan have carte blanche for a weekend and have him programme to his heart’s content for his first curatorship ever, worldwide. It would even seem that Lanegan has become a professional programmer on the side, as his wishlist looks pretty impressive.
The complete programme will be announced at a later date, but Lanegan himself will serve as headliner. So each evening he will play his entire (!) masterpiece ‘Bubblegum’ (from 2004). The Guardian on it: ‘In every sense, ‘Bubblegum’ is a staggering record.’ There’s no way that AB40 could go wrong for us now!
